Baby Swim - 5 easy steps to teach your babies how to swim
"In general, babies can be taught how to swim when they reach six months old" advise Swish Swimming. You can start guiding your babies to approach the water and see their confidence grow as they familiarise with water.
Here are 5 easy steps to teach your baby how to swim.
Step 1: Safe Entry
How to introduce your baby to water safely
Have your baby seated at the edge of the swimming pool and hold your baby under the arms. Let them lean forward safely into the pool.
How to get your baby to exit the water safely
Carry your baby at the arms and have them face outwards towards the edge of the swimming pool. Bring your baby towards the swimming pool edge and put them onto the platform slowly. Then, turn them around to face you.
Put your baby on your shoulder and get them comfortable in the shoulder hold position. Hold your baby's legs and lead them to kick whilst you propel them around the pool.
Step 4: Stream line position
Get your baby to kick naturally in water
Hold the baby under the arms in the streamline position. When they start kicking, glide them gently in good position in the water.
Hold your baby with one arm. Then, put your hand in the water and splash lightly at your babies. Encourage your babies to splash back at you.
We hope that these 5 steps will get you started with your baby's first swim at the swimming pool.
